Laurie Ihlenfield's art is an unfolding of history and place. The artist creates fragile landscapes from fabric and thread that challenge a sense of permanence in an ever changing panorama.
Laurie first earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland University College. She later returned to school to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art & Design where her primary emphasis was painting and printmaking. After teaching art in a local private school and painting the artist decided to shift focus and return to school once again. In 2013 she completed a Master of Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art & Design. It was in the Master's program that the artist began to experiment with fabric, dyeing, and thread.- Curriculum Vitae
